The Kaphiy Journey: Where Passion Meets Excellence
Nicolas Fischer's story begins with a deep connection to the land and culture of coffee. Nicolas was born to Swiss parents in Ecuador and grew up on a South American coffee farm, immersed in the rhythm of nature and the potential of coffee. This is where his lifelong passion for coffee took root, fueled by the sights, smells and stories that surrounded him.
Nine years ago, Nicolas moved to Switzerland to study at the prestigious École Hôtelière de Lausanne, driven by the dream of becoming a reference in specialty coffee. His love for coffee and entrepreneurial spirit led him to create a small coffee community in his garage. What started as a series of intimate coffee pop-ups for friends evolved into a space where ideas were brewed as freely as coffee itself. Workshops, experiments and endless cups of coffee soon laid the foundation for something bigger.
During these formative years, Nicolas dedicated himself to learning. He studied the five pillars of coffee, honed his skills and expanded his knowledge. Three transformative days of home pop-ups convinced him to take the next step. He invested in a five-kilo Probat roaster and began roasting his own specialty coffee, driven by the complexity and untapped potential of Central and South American beans.
In 2024, Nicolas made a life-changing decision. He left his career as an entrepreneur behind to pursue his dream: to establish Kaphiy as a reference point for specialty coffee. Kaphiy became more than a brand - it became a bridge between his Latin American heritage and Swiss excellence. Together with the Kaphiy Academy, Nicolas set out to share his expertise and celebrate the stories and flavors of the beans he sources.
Today, Kaphiy represents a blend of passion, tradition and quality. It's not just about coffee; it's about honoring its journey - from the farms of Central and South America to the cups of coffee lovers around the world.

In 2024, Kaphiy found his home at Eistraße Malter 5a, a space dedicated to the true potential of specialty coffee. This marks a new milestone in Kaphiy's journey as a passionate and honest ambassador of coffee.
With years of experience as a certified SCA expert in brewing, barista skills, roasting, sensory analysis and green coffee, Nicolas is committed to transparency and education. With Kaphiy Academy, he invites guests to explore the depth and beauty of coffee, sharing knowledge that honors its origins and showcases its true potential.
